Terms of Use

Effective April 2026  ·  Governing law: Nevada

Preamble

Read These Terms

These terms are plain. That does not make them less binding. By using Context Hitch, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

The confidentiality section is the one that matters most for professional users. Please read it carefully.

Section 1

What Context Hitch Is

Context Hitch is an educational platform. Its purpose is to help professionals understand how AI language models work — specifically, the mechanics of context windows and probabilistic text generation.

Context Hitch is not a law firm, a medical provider, a financial services company, or any other regulated professional service. It does not provide legal, medical, financial, compliance, or any other professional advice. Content on this platform, including content in the Professional Responsibility section, is educational in nature. It is not advice of any kind. No professional service relationship of any type is formed by your use of this platform.

If you use this platform as a substitute for professional judgment, that is your decision and your responsibility.

Section 2

Confidential Information — Read This Twice

Do not enter confidential information into this platform.

Confidential information includes, without limitation: information subject to attorney-client privilege; information protected by the attorney work product doctrine; patient health information protected under HIPAA or applicable state law; information subject to a contractual confidentiality obligation; trade secrets; personnel records; financial information disclosed under a duty of confidentiality; and any other information you are legally or ethically prohibited from disclosing.

This platform uses third-party AI APIs — currently Anthropic and Google. Inputs are transmitted to and processed by those providers. While enterprise API terms generally include commitments that inputs are not used for model training, this platform is not designed, configured, or warranted to handle information subject to legal duties of confidentiality. It is a teaching tool. Use it as one.

If you are an attorney: entering client information here may implicate your obligations under Rule 1.6 of the Model Rules of Professional Conduct, and analogous rules in your jurisdiction. Do not do it.

If you are a healthcare professional: entering patient information here may implicate your obligations under HIPAA. Do not do it.

You acknowledge this warning explicitly by using the platform.

Section 3

Access

Context Hitch is currently open to the public. I reserve the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate access at any time, for any reason or no reason, without notice. No use of this platform creates any right to continued access.

You may not use automated tools, scripts, or bots to access this platform or make requests to its API. You may not attempt to probe, scan, or test the security of this platform without my written permission.

Section 4

No Professional Advice — Explicit Disclaimer

Nothing on this platform constitutes legal, medical, financial, compliance, or any other professional advice. This applies to all content, including the Professional Responsibility section, blog posts, educational materials, and AI-generated responses.

No professional-client relationship of any kind — including but not limited to attorney-client, physician-patient, or advisor-client — is formed by your use of this platform. Context Hitch does not provide professional advice of any kind.

Verify AI outputs. Check primary sources. Consult a professional for professional matters. The platform exists to teach you how AI works, not to replace your judgment.

Section 5

Cost, Usage, and the API Budget

I pay the AI API costs for this platform as a personal choice. There is no charge to you. In exchange, you agree not to abuse this arrangement.

Specifically, you agree not to: use automated tools or scripts to generate API requests; attempt to circumvent the per-session token budget; use the platform for commercial purposes; or use the platform in ways inconsistent with its educational purpose.

Each session is subject to a token budget. When that budget is reached, the session ends gracefully. This is an educational choice, not a punishment — it is part of the lesson about what AI use costs.

Section 6

Logging and Privacy

I log the minimum necessary for security and cost tracking. Specifically:

  • Authentication events (passphrase use, session creation) — without passphrase values
  • Token counts and cost estimates per session — without conversation content
  • IP addresses — for rate limiting and abuse prevention
  • Contact form submissions — email address stored in audit log; name, email, and message content sent to the site operator via email

Conversation content is not logged. What you type into the AI interfaces is transmitted to the AI provider and returned to you. I do not store it.

Logs are retained for 30 days and then purged automatically. I do not sell your data. I do not use your data for advertising. This platform does not carry advertising of any kind.

This platform uses Plausible Analytics to collect aggregate usage data — page views, top pages, session duration, and referral sources at a coarse level. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, does not build individual profiles, and is not subject to GDPR consent requirements. No information that identifies you as an individual is collected or stored.

The AI providers (Anthropic, Google) have their own privacy policies and data handling practices. Under enterprise API terms, inputs are generally not used for training. Verify current terms directly with those providers.

Section 7

Availability and Warranties

This is a hobby project. I operate it because I find it useful and I think others will too. I provide no warranty of any kind — express or implied — including no warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

The platform may go down. It may be slow. It may change without notice. It may disappear entirely. I make no commitment to uptime, availability, continuity, or any particular feature set. Do not build any professional workflow that depends on this platform being available.

I am not liable for any damages arising from your use of this platform — direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or otherwise. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, my total liability to you is zero.

Section 8

Intellectual Property

The content, design, and code of Context Hitch are my work. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the platform's content without permission.

AI-generated responses are produced by third-party models. Their ownership and licensing status is governed by the applicable provider terms. I make no representations about the ownership or fitness for any purpose of AI-generated outputs.

Section 9

Governing Law and Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

Section 10

Updates to These Terms

I may update these terms. The effective date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the platform after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. If you disagree with a change, stop using the platform.

These terms constitute the entire agreement between us regarding your use of Context Hitch. There are no side agreements, implied licenses, or other arrangements.
